I had an idea of making a Chocolate Fridge Cake and adding some mini eggs for a little Easter twist so I just needed a recipe. I had a memory of this yummy gooey recipe mum used to make when we were kids and I asked her about it, she tells me she stopped making it because it was bad for us……. how mean! Anyway after a bit of hunting and a phone call to her friend the recipe was unearthed! Me being me added a few changes and after a couple of trials and eating most of it myself I can confirm it is indulgently delicious and also very easy to make.
It’s the perfect no bake ‘cake’ for making with children and you can pick and mix the ingredients to suit your personal preference. Little hands will love breaking up biscuits and stealing raisins from the bowl and it goes without saying that there could be a squabble over licking the spoon!
There is nothing better than the fresh sweet cherries available at this time of year. I remember trying fresh cherries as a child on holiday in France, in the days when they would never have been seen in supermarkets here! They are generally a more expensive option but I can’t help but add a punnet or two to my shopping basket.
I also grabbed the Tesco free magazine on my way out and after spotting the cherries on the front cover I had a read with a quick cuppa and it inspired me to try out a few recipes. These are all very simple and easy to put together – just the way I need recipes at the minute, quick and tasty!
I’ve been enjoying a little taste of summer with some elderflower cordial……
Just over a month ago while looking for some foliage to fill little vases to decorate the table for Hannah’s birthday party I discovered we had elderflower bushes at the bottom of the garden! (Our garden is quite big and still a bit of a wilderness, we’ve been busy renovating the house so the garden is still on the endless ‘to-do’ list!) Fast forward a month and I eventually managed to find time to make some elderflower cordial! There are still a few blooms out and about around the country but it is more or less the end of the season about now, so just about getting this blog out on time!
I searched the internet and most recipes are fairly similar, I decided to try Mary Berry’s version as she would usually be my first choice for cake recipes and i’ve never gone wrong with any of her recipes.
