HANNAH’S BAPTISM

She is more precious than rubies. Proverbs 3:15

Where does time go! Hannah was christened exactly a year ago at 2 months old, it really doesn’t seem that long ago! As I was looking back over the photos I thought I would write a wee blog and share some photos.

HANNAH FLORENCE ROSANNA

was baptised on Sunday 16th August 2015 at Holy Trinity Church, Glencraig.

We both loved the name Hannah, it’s a Biblical name and means ‘favour’ or ‘grace’. Florence is after my maternal grandmother who passed away in October 2004 (she was a very important lady in all our lives) and Rosanna is after Chris’s maternal grandmother who was delighted to have her name passed on to our little lady.

Hannah’s godparents are my sister, Mandy and Chris’s brother, Dave, they carried out the roles of bridesmaid and bestman on our wedding day so for us we felt this was an obvious choice.

I decided I wanted to make Hannah’s gown……… I always loved the gown I was baptised in but through time it had discoloured and wasn’t the bright white it used to be so I decided I wanted to make a replica of it! I found the vintage crochet pattern online and set to work! It wasn’t a difficult pattern as such, it was just time consuming so it really was a labour of love!! It took more hours than I ever could have imagined, I would have liked to have it longer but I eventually gave up the evening before! I was delighted with the result and I loved being able to say I made it. Her shawl was also crocheted by a lovely lady over on Etsy who kindly made it for me in the same yarn as her gown.

We wanted the day to be relaxed and be all about family, we had a lovely church service and then had close family back to our house for a buffet lunch and some dessert and cake!

{I didn’t realise I looked like death warmed up, more make up was definitely required!!}

I try to keep things simple but i’m pretty useless at it so we ended up going all out with lots of yummy food, mostly prepared by my great mum, as I seemed to have a little person permanently attached to me around this time. We had a vintage theme with lots of vintage crockery and some decorations but sadly we forgot to take photos!! We did however take photos of the best bits……… I totally loved the cake! Mum made the sponge cakes and I added the decoration, I think it looked stunning and it tasted fab too!

Hannah wasn’t too bothered about the whole occasion, she was great in church and quiet throughout the whole service and didn’t cry when she got doused in water!. She didn’t think much of the food either and spent most of the afternoon dosing in her frilly knickers!
